Frequently asked questions
What is an Air Watt?
An Air Watt (AW) measures real suction power: airflow times lift, divided by a constant (AW = 0.117354 × CFM × inches of water lift). Unlike raw Pascals, it accounts for how much air a vacuum actually moves, so it's the most honest single number for comparing vacuums.
Is higher Pa always better?
Not always. Pascals measure static pressure at the hose, but a vacuum can score high Pa with weak airflow. Air Watts combine pressure and airflow, which is why two vacuums with the same Pa rating can clean very differently. Brushroll design and filtration matter too.
Why do brands use different units?
Marketing and history. US brands often quote Air Watts or inches of water lift, while European and Asian brands lean toward Pascals or kPa. It makes cross-brand comparisons confusing — which is exactly what this converter is for.
